Cozy cozy cozy!

This is my second stay at this wonderful property in beautiful Stowe. And I can promise you that I will visit again and again and again. Jill has thought of every single thing from the cozy decor, the fully stocked kitchen to the pot belly stove fully set for a fire to snuggle by. She truly has thought of everything even setting out a culinary welcome basket. Some of the best nights sleep I have had in a long time. Not a sound to be heard except for the twinkling of the stars. 5 stars for sure. Cindy Charleston SC

Best stay of my life so far!!

This is an extraordinary cabin, bar none! My family enjoyed this amazing vacation home tremendously. Everything was immaculate and perfect - the space, the loft layout, the details of the furniture, amenities (toothbrushes were provided can you imagine that?), location and romantic surroundings! I brought guests from overseas and they were super delighted and impressed with their stay too. Jill, the owner was also fantastic. She was not only very responsive but also ensured that the needs of her guests are satisfactorily met. I don't usually write reviews but for this stay, I intend to provide my 2 thumbs up here and on other websites! Don't miss this magical cabin!!

Charming, plush and peaceful ...

My partner and I stayed at Goldilocks for a long weekend. We planned the trip with intention of skiing at Trapp Family Lodge and Stowe. We skied at both places however, we were reluctant to leave the cabin! It was so comfortable, accommodating and relaxing. We couldn't wait to return at the end of the day. Loved the wood stove, furnishings, towels, decor and the bed! Truly a gem. Recommended for: Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway Response Crystal27

Goldilocks Cabin Good Value

My wife and I have stayed in this cabin twice. It is cozy and well equipped. My wife loves the professional decor. Convenience to Stowe is a plus; also the owner keeps a lot of necessities well stocked (soap products, TP, paper towels and cleaning products, etc). Would definitely recommend for a couple. Two couples would be tight however. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Pet-friendly, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers Response

Cozy Winter Hideout

We spent a few days skiing at Stowe, and each evening it was a pleasure to return to "Goldilocks" cabin. The cozy atmosphere, funky decor, and a well-equipped kitchen made this spot a real hit for us. In terms of practicality, the cabin worked well for skiing, with a mud-room entrance for boots etc. The combination of a great ski hill and a fun place to stay made this woodsy/outdoor holiday a memorable one.

The Perfect Vermont Getaway

The cabin was absolutely perfect. The attention to detail was unbelievable. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The ski conditions on Monday were wonderful and we had so much fun. Tuesday it rained hard, but we still spent a few hours on the mountain. Each night we went into Burlington, which was a beautiful little town. I'm hoping to attend the University of Vermont School of Medicine, so it was a pleasure to finally see it in person. The shopping by Stowe and in the surrounding area was everything we hoped for; many handmade goods and amazing food produced locally. It was such a different world than NJ and we hope to be back soon. Thanks so much for an amazing vacation.

Just right...

My husband and I went to Stowe for our honeymoon. The cabin was welcoming and friendly. The landscaping was beautiful and serene. The surrounding area has a lot of great hiking and summer activities. I would recommend this cabin for anyone looking to escape to the mountains for a nice stay.

Perfect!

Although it is difficult to add anything new to the glowing reports previously submitted, I do want to add my name to the multiple 5-star reviews already posted. This cabin is such a gem. We felt "at home" immediately when we entered, even though we had endured a long weather delay in our flight from Atlanta and didn't arrive until midnight. The housekeeper had kindly left a porch light on for us and when we walked in, we knew we had made a great choice for our stay. After a long refreshing sleep in the wonderfully comfortable bed, we arose refreshed and ready to explore Vermont. We did lots of sightseeing in our week long visit, but a true highlight was returning to the cottage for a relaxing evening. There is nothing spared to make a guest feel welcome, from the cute little bear soaps in the bathroom to the packets of coffee for breakfast. One note.....even though the cottage is only about a mile from Stowe, walking into town would not be advisable, due to the busy road out front without sidewalks. However, the peace and quiet of the cottage compared to the traffic and din of busy Stowe is a good trade-off! Although this little place is perfect for a couple or a family with older children (comfortable bed in the loft) it might not be a good choice for families with toddlers due to the steep ladder up to the loft, the wood-burning stove, and lots of breakables, which add to the charm of the place, but are not "kid proof". For us, though, it was perfection, and I hope we can get back to visit again someday. Finally, the owner, Jill Evarts, is wonderful to work with. You communicate directly with her, not an agency, and she is very prompt in getting back to you via email with any questions.

Cozy, sweet & so comfortable

I've stayed at Goldilocks a few times over the past few years during different seasons. It's simply a great place, great location and cozy. It's not to big or to small, just right and love being there. Nice kitchen and outside grill, big yard, beautiful view and I really appreciate not having to go out for every meal & enjoy dinner on the back deck. Skiing at Stowe is my favorite, we also snow shoe & xcountry- so there's something for everyone. Highly Recommended.

Charming and Rustic Country Cabin

The Goldilocks Cabin is both rustic and sophisticated-country-style, very relaxing and ideal for a couple. The property description is accurate and the cabin's kitchen is well equipped if you choose to dine in. Also, it is an easy drive to Stowe Resort for skiing and activities plus a variety of restaurants can be found just down the road. Owner Jill is easy to communicate with and provided specific details along the way making the rental transaction a success.

Goldilock's Cabin Surpassed Expectations

If you are looking for a comfortable cabin with all amenities; in a very quiet location (not isolated though) and with loads of activities for the more adventurous; then you couldn't do any better than Goldilocks Cabin. The road directions were perfect and we found the cabin very easily. The first sighting of Goldilocks Cabin lived up to all anticipated expectations; lights on and welcoming; very warm and cosy when we got in. Wifi was good; mobile phone connection not so good - you have to find the right spot in the cabin to get reception! (A wonderful reason for no one being able to contact you!) The kitchen was very well equipped with everything most people on vacation would need. Always loads of hot water for showers. Plenty of towels for guests to use. However, maybe a couple more robes would be useful as the cabin sleeps four/five? The washhouse with the washing machine and tumble dryer was always warm for drying and keeping ski boots warm. The first morning we woke up to a huge dump of snow overnight and we were very impressed with the contractor arriving to clear the snow off the drive :-) So no worries about being snowbound if you stay here. The only improvement could possibly be slightly brighter lighting for those who like to read at night? Stowe is a wonderful village with some good stores to explore. Plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from eg Gracie's. Peace Pups for dog sledding Http://www.peacepupsdogsledding.com/ Cross country skiing at the Trapp Family Lodge; Skiing at Mt Mansfield; Snowmobile with Umiak. We would definitely visit again and also at a time of year when there is no snow and experience the wonderful countryside hiking or doing water activities. Thank you Jill for allowing us to make use of your wonderful cabin. Response Anonymous said... Jan 12,

Charming

Goldilocks was so charming and beautifully decorated. It is conveniently close to downtown Stowe and many activities. My husband and I found Goldilocks was the perfect romantic getaway, but the cabin has enough more than enough space for a family and has a sleeping loft that kids would love. We have already begun talking about staying at the cabin again!!

Quaint Summer Getaway!

We just finished our first visit to the Stowe, VT area. The cabin is located very near town, but far enough away to give it that 'just right' rural getaway feel. We were able to both jog and hike directly from the cabin on the local roads and trails...very convenient! The inside of the cabin is as advertised...all the needed amenities tastefully decorated in local antique flavor. We highly recommend a visit to this area during the Summer season. Staying at Goldilocks will enhance your visit! Recommended for: Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Girls Getaway, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers

An idyllic cottage close to many attractions

Goldilocks Cottage is the idyllic cottage in the woods, so aptly named you expect three steaming bowls of porridge awaiting arrival, there may not be the three bears...but what you do have is a perfect lodge with a wood burning stove you wish for snow. We arrived however, for summer walking and adventure making the cottage a great retreat and base. When we wanted, Stowe with its village charm, provided superb food in a choice of restaurants and delicious ice cream. The surrounding area is of great beauty. We took the cable car up to Mansfield Mountain and ate a great lunch while looking upon the valley below. . If you are brave enough you can take the zip wire back down. Ice Skated in the indoor arena. Visited the Von Trapp Hotel resisted the urge to sing. Saw the amazing balloon show. Took the breathtaking toll road and walked the mountain ridge. Took a horse ride at the local ranch. Visited the waterfalls and swam in ice blue rivers where the rocks were formed thousands on years ago and took what almost seemed a pilgrimage to Sterling Pond. The journey is so worth it and you must take a dip. The whole area is teeming with natural wonder...Smugglers notch is a must. You can be as strenuous as you wish. The cottage is beautifully designed and decorated and must be a wonder in the winter. It has a great entrance where you can leave all your boots and ski gear. Its great for families as there is bed settee in the large bedroom which can enable everyone to sleep together of you so wish. You may not see a bear but if you're lucky enough deer will come into the garden. A special treat, just like Goldilocks. Response Patrick H. said... Jun 27, 2015 -

Relaxing Retreat

After having to drive from Newark, NJ all night because of United Airlines' inability to properly staff their plane, resulting in a cancelled flight, we finally arrived at Goldilocks in desperate need of rest. The cabin was our sanctuary for a week as our family of four explored much of Vermont. The cabin is very well decorated and is larger than the photos appear, with little corners and alcoves where people can get away to read or have quiet time while still being in the presence of the rest of the family. The location is ideal as it is close enough to Stowe and the surrounding attractions to give quick access, yet you have the felling of a simpler, rural lifestyle to settle you after a hectic day. The owner was readily available via email and responsive at all times which was especially important for us as our plans evolved due to the canceled flight matter. though a great place to stay any time of the year, I would love to visit again during the fall colors or winter sports seasons...the wood stove just beckons to be fired up! Overall, the place was clean, inviting, and worth the money...I would stay again, should my travels take me back to Stowe. Response carmen

Out of this World!

This is the first time we have stayed at the Goldilocks Cabin! What a beautiful place. Starting with the cabin which took our breath away, to the town of Stowe. Lot of hiking opportunities, amazing restaurants, friendly people, there was always something to do and we enjoyed every minute of it. And, pets welcome!! My dog loved her stay as well, and I enjoyed the tired dog :-). We will definitely be back for more, three nights stay definitely was not enough! The owner is very friendly and is always in touch if any questions and such arise. Thank you, what a wonderful place!

The Perfect Fall Getaway

Hi Jill, Thank you so much for everything. Beth and I absolutely loved our stay. She kept commenting how stocked with everything we needed your cottage was. Perfect, in a word. It was hard to leave, but we had to get to her daughter's field hockey game at New England College in NH before heading home to New Jersey. I've been coming to the Stowe area every year since my first stay back in '93, when I got a tiny room at Nicholls lodge. I just love the area in general, but to compliment it with such a cozy and comfortable place to stay was even better. Thank you again and hopefully we can have a longer stay next time around.

Fabulous Fall holiday at Goldilocks Cabin, Stowe

My Mum, sister and I booked this gorgeous cabin for our two week holiday to Stowe. It was perfect! Very pretty and beautifully decorated. It was cosy and welcoming, with a huge vase of flowers. We spent a lot of time just hanging out there...reading, sketching and painting, so we can definitely recoomend it to everyone. We spent our two weeks exploring the village, which we loved, and many of the wonderful places up alongside the ski road/mountain road. Places that we kept going back to include: McCarthy's (breakfast is amazing!!!), Cold Hollow Cider Mill (hot apple cider and cinnamon donuts are gorgeous), Harrisons (for our 'posh' meals out!!), Spruce Peak hotel + the gondola ride, Von Trapp Resort's bakery/deli, and definitely the spa at Stoweflake!!!

Terrific time in Stowe... don't hesitate!

My husband and I have been going to Stowe for 15 years together and we have stayed in most of the nice resorts/hotels as well as a couple private homes. Goldilocks ranks at the very top! It was super comfortable, fully loaded kitchen with nice pans to cook in, which is a treat since most rentals don't offer much. Additionally you are so close to the center of Stowe but you still get the feeling of being out in the woods, so its the perfect combination. Don't hesitate staying in this home, we will definitely be back.

Very Clean and homey property

This is a nice cabin about 1.5 miles East of downtown Stowe area. Things we liked: Clean, comfortable, WiFi (worked after I rebooted the router), washer/dryer, lots of kitchen items incl. coffee! It is a little less remote than the picture portrays - about 100 ft from the road and a house on adjoining lot (but still quiet and somewhat secluded). Owner is great with commutations - but would be nice to have a detailed map for the 1-2 mile surrounding area. Minor improvements: Better toiletries, newer TV in living room, remove a few knickknacks for more shelf and top of dresser space (especially in bathroom). My Response So Glad you enjoyed your stay. I just wanted to let you know that I am updating the cabin with a smart TV in November, so guests can stream their favorite movies and TV shows. So, Goldilocks is working its way to the 21st century! Hope you'll come back and give it a try.

Comfortable cabin in the Vermont Woods

I just returned from a wonderful 3-stay stay at Goldilocks at Stowe. The cabin was perfect for my visit. My group consisted of 4 adults and we all had our own bed. The cabin has three decks, with the deck off the master being my favorite for viewing nature. It has a fully equipped kitchen, cozy living room and two tables for dining. The owner Jill responses very quickly to any questions. I look forward to a return visit.

This was just "what the doctor ordered" for a weekend getaway. It was cozy and charming, spotless and well maintained. Jill was easily accessible via email. I would definetely hope to return there again in the future.

Wonderful cabin for Stowe Adventures

We looked at many lodging options when we were planning our pre christmas escape. we are a family of four and it was very tough to coordinate all of our plans for a short vacation(2 adult kids and my wife and i) Jill was very helpful in coordinating our stay at Goldilocks. She was very helpful with our last minute plan and arranged a meeting with her caretaker to brief us on the house and the town. The cabin is bigger than it appears on the site and is well stocked for home cooking. the heat can certainly handle those cold stowe nights The beds were all very comfortable. The location feels remote, but you are actually only moments away from town. We run a bed and breakfast and Jill has done a great job of making certain all the details have been covered.
